Artists have been painting and sculpting....

religious subjects, symbols, characters....

and concepts for centuries. Religious faith has inspired some of the most impressive and enduring art ever produced.

As our much consulted, modern online dictionary/encyclopedia, Wikipedia, says it, "Sacred art involves the ritual and cultic practices and practical and operative aspects of the path of the spiritual realization within the artist's religious tradition."  The Christian faith is the tradition represented here.

The slightest thought of the category of sacred art causes us to go in our imaginations to images made famous by Rembrandt,  Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, etc. Regardless of the intimidation factor of aged forms, current day artists must forge ahead and render images that mark his/her spiritual path in hope that their expression will inspire, challenge, amuse or enlarge the spiritual journey of themselves and others on their same path.

Robert has painted several concepts and images from his Christian faith as they have inspired him in prayer and study.  Often they are humorous and challenging. There is the hope that they will resonate with and inspire others. He is not referred to as a Christian artist but as a Christ-follower who is an artist by profession.
